Wise Women

When the pines sway

to the rhythms of the winds

it is an interpretive dance

only wild women know.

Recalling a time almost forgotten

when the language was more familiar

a local tongue.

It takes a life times to know its alphabet,

its vowels or dialect;

yet when they speak to me.

If I listen,

my bones can understand.
